Bhubaneswar, June 19: ‘Applications of Metagenomics—Agriculture, Environment and Health’, a book edited by three researchers including Prof. (Dr.) Hrudayanath Thatoi who heads the Center for Industrial Biotechnology Research (CIBR) of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) here was released on Tuesday by SOA’s Founder President Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak.
The book highlights the various metagenomics methods and its application in soil, polluted environment sites, agriculture production system as well as in health care. Special attention has been given to biotechnological exploitation of novel microbial resources for social welfare, Prof. Thatoi said after its release.
The other two editors of the book are Dr. Sukanta Kumar Pradhan, Head of department of Bioinformatics at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist at ICAR- National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack.
Prof. (Dr.) Thatoi previously served as mangrove biologist and senior scientist at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai and Director of Centre for Similipal Studies, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada. He is a functional area expert in ecology and biodiversity.
