SUMUM ORGANISES MARATHON TO MARK NATIONAL INTENSIVE CARE WEEK

Bhubaneswar, June 10: On the eve of National Intensive Care Week and to create awareness about the tireless work of critical care clinicians across the country, SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) here organised a marathon on Friday with many including healthcare professionals participating.Mr. Amitav Thakur, Inspector General of Police (Operation), who graced the occasion as chief guest said doctors needed to be protected and provided all support and cooperation to serve the society. Dr. Swetapadma Das, CEO of SUMUM, and members of the Bhubaneswar branch of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), were present. “Doctors and healthcare professionals rendered yeoman service to the society for more than two years at a critical juncture following the outbreak of Covid-19 endangering their own lives. They need our empathy and gratefulness,” he said while flagging off the marathon jointly organised by the hospital and Bhubaneswar branch of ISCCM. Dr. Das said the marathon would help create awareness about the field of critical care medicine and provide voice to the critical care community. “Run for your health, for your life, for your future and for your community,” she said. Dr. Anand Mishra, Deputy Medical Superintendent of SUMUM, presided over the program which was addressed by Dr. Y.P.Singh, National Secretary-Elect, Dr. Pramod Kumar Guru, Senior Consultant at Mayo Clinic, Florida, USA, Dr. Banambar Ray, Head of the Critical Care department of SUMUM and Dr. Pragyan Routray, Chairman of Bhubaneswar branch of ISCCM. Brig. (Dr.) Biraj Mohan Mishra, Chief, Medical Services, SUMUM, proposed the vote of thanks. The participants, who included doctors, nurses, paramedics and others covered a distance of about five km.
