RICT PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER, BARGARH TRAPPED BY VIGILANCE
WHILE ACCEPTING RS 5,000/- BRIBE.
Today i.e. on 19.04.2022, Dr. Chulabati Sahu, District Public Health
Officer (DPHO), Bargarh has been trapped by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and
accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from
a complainant for issuing a food safety licence in his favour for a new hotel to be
opened by him. Complainant was approaching Dr. Sahu to get his work done for about
a week. But Dr. Sahu was demanding bribe to issue food safety licence.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 19.04.2022 wherein
the accused Dr. Chulabati Sahu, District Public Health Officer, Bargarh was caught
by the team of Odisha Vigilance in her residential house at Bargarh while demanding
and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from
the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Dr.
Sahu and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Dr. Sahu gave positive
chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by her.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential
house and office room of Dr. Sahu at Bargarh.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.17 dated
18.04.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been
registered and is under investigation.
