Today about 50 active Maoists of different villages of Jantri GP, Andrapalli GP, Nakamamidi GP, Panasput GP & Jodambo GP of Swabhiman anchal (Cut-off area) surrendered before Sri Sunil Kumar Bansal, Hon’ble DGP, Odisha during his visit to the BSF COB at Jantri under Malkangiri district. The Maoists also submitted an memorandum to Hon’ble DGP, Odisha regarding their wish to join the mainstream and receive the benefits of the welfare programs of the government. The surrendered Maoists also took oath under the National flag to quit violence and live peaceful life. The Maoists stated that they had been misled by the CPI (Maoist) leaders and were indulged in violence like murder, arson etc since decades. But after seeing the development works by the government in the area in respect to road communication, electricity, mobile connectivity etc., they decided to join the mainstream.Along with Hon’ble DGP, other dignitaries present during this occasion were:Sri Sanjeeb Kumar Panda, Director, Intelligence & Chairman of OPHCSri R.K.
