Circumstances of detection
Brief of the cheating gang Malkangiri Police has busted an interstate gang of cheats who on the pretext of providing illegal FICNs dupe people. The gang operated from West Bengal and likely to have defrauded people in West Bengal, AP, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The gang would approach common people and convince them of providing identical fake money through a ‘sleight of hands’, using commonly available chemicals. Then they would disappear after receiving the upfront payment and victims don’t approach Police Stations since the money involved is not genuine. Malkangiri Police, displayed admirable preventive policing and managed to apprehend them before they defrauded anyone in Malkangiri.
2 from West Bengal and 3 from Malkangiri have been apprehended so far. More investigation into the matter is ongoing.
